Setting: This chapter takes place in the year 1966. Ji Li and the others have to make a class education exhibition which shows all the landlords.
Plot: As Ji li is sewing, she gets a knock on the door, it was Lin lin, a girl in her class. She came to inform her that teacher Zhang wanted her to attend a meeting the next day. Then Ji Li's little brother Ji Yong walks in. Her grandmother questions him about his trip to see his dad. Unfortunately he wasn't allowed to talk or see him. When Ji Li arrived at the meeting she couldn't figure out what it was for. Then she realized it was for the class education exhibition. So she went and asked teacher Zhang about why she was chosen after her families class status. He said that he picked her for a reason and that it didn't matter about her families class status, he believed she was a very good educable child. Then Ji Li and the other workers on the class education exhibition start working but they work very late and get tired for classes and then fall asleep.
Characters: I learned that teacher Zhang is a kind person who helps children go forward without worrying too much. I also learned that the Jiang family is going through lots of trouble every time and it gets worse every time also. I learned that chairman Mao is telling people landlords are bad but this shouldn't be because landlords can be a little bit rich but they aren't bad people.
Analysis: The analysis to the story is that everybody should have a chance to do things they want to do. Everyone has a role in it because if you don't encourage the person whose giving it the try, maybe that person will end up somewhere where that person doesn't want to be. Teacher Zhang is that kind of a person. without him Ji Li wouldn't have a chance to be in the class education exhibition.
